SIMPLE PAST TENSE vs PRESENT PERFECT TENSE

Task 1:
Look at the excerpt from the text below. Study the sentences by paying attention to the words in the bold-typed and bold-italic typed expressions.

Tugas 1: Lihatlah kutipan dari teks di bawah ini. Pelajarilah kalimat tersebut dengan memperhatikan kata-kata pada ekspresi yang diketik tebal dan tebal miring.

Orville	: Our dad gave us a toy helicopter that flew with the help of rubber bands. We’ve been interested in the idea since then.
Wilbur	: Orville has always liked to build kites, so, we have experimented with making our own helicopters for a while now
Host	: But that was only a toy, what about the actual plane?
Wilbur	: Orville made the first flight with our first plane at Kitty Hawk on December 14, 1903
Host	: Why did you choose Kitty Hawk?
Orville	: Kitty Hawk had a hill, good breezes, and was sandy. The condition would help soften the landings in case of a crash. The first flight lasted 12 seconds and they flew for 120 feet.
Wilbur	: We have worked and experimented with gliders to perfect the wing design and controls since then.

Simple Past Tense

* Jadi tulisan yang dicetak tebal (gave, made, did, choose, had, lasted) merupakan bentuk kalimat dari Simpel Past Tense atau biasa yang kita kenal sebagai kalimat yang menggunakan kata kerja kedua (Verb2) untuk menunjukkan bahwa kejadian pada kalimat tersebut sudah berlalu (lampau). Rumus Simple Past Tense adalah S + Verb2 + O

Present Perfect Tense

* Jadi tulisan yang dicetak miring tebal (have been interested, has always liked, have experimented, have worked and experimented) merupakan bentuk kalimat dari Present Perfect Tense. Present Perfect Tense memiliki rumus

• S + has/have + been + Verb3 + O

atau

• S + has/have + Verb3 + O
